Throwin' Clubs Today
Ernie Els and Sergio Garcia have been fined for throwing clubs at the Sun City Challenge in South Africa. They were fined 1,000 rand ($138) each and both players handed over the money immediately, clearly relieved, not just of their cash, but their frustrations. Fellow pros looked on longingly, and one was even moved to song.
Original music and lyrics by Chuck Berry and Brian Wilson

If everybody had a golf club,
To chuck away today.
Then everybody’d be throwin'
Like old Garc-i-a.
You’d see ‘em wearing their golf pants
And fancy sneakers too.
It’s just so therapeutic,
Throwin’ clubs today.
You’d catch ‘em throwin’ at Wentworth,
Augusta National.
St Andrews and Brookline,
Australia’s Huntingdale.
All over Sun City,
And down Montego Bay.
Everybody’s club throwin’,
Throwin’ clubs today.
We’ll all be planning what club
We’re gonna chuck one that smells.
We’re loosening our shoulders,
We can’t wait for Els.
We’ll all be fined but that’s OK,
We’re not afraid to pay.
Tell the world that we’re throwin’,
Throwin’ clubs today.
Kapalua and Doral,
And Pinehurst Number 2.
At Pebble Beach and Birkdale,
Industry Hills L.A.
All over La Manga,
At Clearwater Bay.
Everybody’s club throwin’,
Throwin’ clubs today.
Everybody’s club throwin’,
Throwin’ clubs today.
Everybody’s club throwin’,
Throwin’ clubs today.
