When Irish Eyes Are Smiling
Sunday was a remarkable day for the Irish as Padraig Harrington and Des Smyth both won their first PGA tournaments in America. We salute these superb victories, and what better way to celebrate St Patrick's Day!
Original music by Ernest Ball and lyrics by Chauncey Olcott and George Graff

When Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, 'tis like the morn in Spring.
It's the lilt of Padraig's laughter,
'Cos he's beaten Vijay Singh.
When Irish hearts are happy,
All the world seems bright and gay.
For there's Des Smyth too who's smiling,
Sure, he beat the whole field today.
When Irish eyes are smiling,
Padraig's done a crazy thing.
Shot a sixty-three on Sunday,
You could hear the birdies sing.
When Irish hearts are happy,
Sure, it's Des that's had his day.
Though he's got a very odd swing,
He has shown them that he can play.
When Irish eyes are smiling,
With two victories in Spring.
It's the skill of Des and Padraig,
With their chipping and putting.
When Irish hearts are happy,
To the world we'd like to say:
Let's all raise a glass of Guinness,
To a Happy St Patrick's Day!
