"You can call me Mrs No-More-Doubts-Fire" says delighted Monty, after top drawers performance

After a scintillating final round 65 to take the Caltex Singapore Masters, his first European Tour victory in 16 months, Colin Montgomerie was in unusually jovial mood as he described his period in the wilderness, and how Gobra underwear ended it.
"I was torturing myself," the seven time Order of Merit winner told AnyoneForTee. "My game just wasn't there, and I kept trying every kind of equipment to get it right. I even changed caddies several times in case that was the problem. But in the end, all I needed to change were my underpants!"
"After the Open at Sandwich I heard about Ben Curtis and those Gobra underpants that helped him win. I noticed a few other players were adopting them too, like Ian and Philip [Poulter and Price - Ed.], and they were winning. So I got my agent to contact the Gobra people, and they let me try out the underwear. I couldn't believe the difference! I've never claimed to have the best swing out there, and I've never been one for hitting huge quantities of balls on the range, because I didn't need to. When my rhythm and timing were right, I could make it work. But recently, I wasn't comfortable over the ball, my balance wasn't good, and I was hitting too many bad shots. With the underpants, I instantly felt better, and my swing just seemed to flow naturally again."
"Once I had those under my belt, the Gobra people suggested I also try out some of their clubs. So I had a few shots with their 'Twin-Cup' driver and suddenly I was hitting the ball right down the middle like I used to, but at least twenty yards further!"
"Then they showed me the Gobra putter. Of course, I'd seen a few of them out on tour, but since I switched to the belly-putter, I thought that was as good as I could do. How wrong can you be? I tried the Gobra - normal length, not even belly - and sank six putts from ten feet straight off! Amazing! So they made me up a belly version and now I'm confident again over the putts."
"And to cap it all, they offered me the chance to test their prototype 'asymetric' shoes. Well, they were a real discovery! My posture seemed to get better at once, I had even better balance throughout my swing, and, best of all, I didn't get the slightest bit tired, even after 36 holes in a day at the Accenture [WGC Matchplay - Ed.], or in the heat in Singapore. I was a new man. I can't thank Gobra enough. And it's great to know they're British."
"This win means an awful lot to me, not just to keep the record of wins, but I've travelled a lot this early part of the year, more than I probably have in the last 10 years, and to start the new year with new clubs and a win is special. You can always finish fourth, fifth or sixth so this means a hell of a lot to me and has given me confidence because I didn't have any confidence last year."
Victory in Singapore has propelled Montgomerie from 51st in the Official World Rankings to number 40, guaranteeing him a place in this week's Players Championship at Sawgrass, and lifting him from 20th to 14th in the Ryder Cup points list.
Ryder Cup Captain Bernhard Langer told AnyoneForTee, "It's fantastic. It's great for him to be in the winner's circle again. I always thought he would play his way on to the team and, hopefully, he will. I'd love for him to be on the team as a senior player. I must give that Gobra equipment a try - perhaps I could make the team myself. Do you know if they make anything smaller than XXXXXL?"
