The Latest News from Gobra

Gobra launches Gellox® hair care and colour styling gel, and immediately tops golf's Official World Hair Fashion Rankings!

The launch of Gellox® marks the first venture into personal grooming products from Gobra, and it is already fast becoming the favourite UV filter and colour styling gel on the PGA Tour.

Combining state-of-the-art hair care against the elements with the latest in styling colours, Gellox® has taken up the sponsorship of golf's Official World Hair Fashion Rankings, encouraging healthy hair, style and elegance on the golf course.

Each Gellox® colour gel (right) is discreetly aromatised to match the chosen hair colour and preserve personal freshness at those tense moments. Thus, Green has a grassy aroma, Blue is redolent of a sea-breeze, while Red has the fruitiness of ripe apples.

An early convert to Gellox® has been PGA pro Tommy Tolles (left), who sported a chic green, close-cropped look at the recent Buick Classic, which immediately propelled him to the nº 1 spot in the World Hair Fashion Rankings.

Gellox® is available from PGA professionals and fine hair saloons everywhere. Colours currently available are red, green, blue, honey-blonde and purple, plus 'No Grey' deep copper for the mature player.

Gobra to serve the sporting traveller as we open our first travel retail shop in prestigious Bahrain Duty Free!

With sports tourism one of the fastest growing areas of international travel, Gobra is about to open its first travel retail outlet inside the award-winning Bahrain Duty Free complex at Bahrain International Airport.

Bahrain Duty FreeA key gateway to the Gulf and the Middle East, Bahrain airport welcomes more than 4.2 million passengers a year, and is investing millions of dollars to increase its capacity to 10 million. Visitors to the Duty Free will shortly discover a Gobra "shop in shop" of 900 square feet, with a state-of-the-art computerised driving range which shows the passenger the result of each shot with the Gobra driver, and an astroturf putting green to test our "anti-torque" putter. In this way, we will demonstrate conclusively to passengers the benefits of switching to Gobra equipment. The shop will also feature comfortable individual changing cubicles in which passengers can try out Gobra underwear and footwear before purchasing.

Mr John Sutcliffe, Managing Director of Aer Rianta International - Middle East, who run Bahrain Duty Free, commented: "The new brand will certainly give a major lift to our sportswear category". Thank you John, and we shall certainly be giving a lift to travelling sportsmen and women with the Gobra brassiere and underpants!

Gobra takes pole position as Michael Schumacher signs up to wear
revolutionary Gobra Underpants in 2004!

Six-time World Formula 1 Drivers Champion Michael Schumacher will be wearing the very latest in Gobra Underpants every time he lines up on the grid of the 2004 F1 season!

In close collaboration with Michael, together with Ferrari racing supremo Jean Todt, Technical Director Ross Brawn and leading Ferrari engineers, Gobra has developed the last word in male support technology - the Gobra Suspension-Tuned Equilibrium Management Underpants (STEMU). Designed to provide maximum driver comfort in the cockpit, while preserving perfect weight balance in the car for more responsive handling, the STEMUs can also be fitted with standard electrodes to provide telemetry readings for the pit-lane during a race, giving invaluable feedback to the race engineers on the performance of both car and driver. Never has the phrase "driving with the seat of your pants" been truer!

Michael is looking to his new underpants to give him a vital edge over the competition after the closely fought 2003 season. A relentlessly demanding perfectionist, Michael knows that precious milliseconds can be shaved off lap times with every improvement in his car's balance, and driver fatigue will be reduced thanks to the more comfortable driving position the STEMUs will allow. After extensive trials during the winter, Michael and his Ferrari team-mate Rubens Barrichello wore the new underpants for the first time in competition at the opening Grand Prix of the season in Melbourne, Australia. The result? A Ferrari 1-2, leaving the competition far behind!

Gobra revives golfing careers in the desert!

Mark O'Meara and Joakim Haeggman were very successful on their respective tours in the 1990's, but had been struggling with their form of late. O'Meara's last PGA victory came in the 1998 Open Championship, while Haeggman's last European Tour victory was the 1997 Scandinavian Masters.

After hearing from successful fellow pros about the benefits of wearing Gobra golfing underwear, they expressed interest in helping us with our field trials, and wore the revolutionary undergarments during the European Tour's recent swing through the Persian Gulf. The transformation was astonishing!

Mark O'Meara and Joakim HaeggmanO'Meara beat a high quality field (including his friend, the world no. 1 and fellow Gobra staff player, Tiger Woods) in the Dubai Desert Classic, and Haeggman held off another strong field with a magnificent closing 65 to take the Qatar Masters. At post-tournament press conferences both expressed their complete astonishment at the lift the new hi-tech underpants had brought to their games, and we can now expect much more from these two champions whose careers were on the wane until they rediscovered their balance and rhythm thanks to appropriate support from their underwear.

Gobra rises to the challenge of Ice Golf with its 'Snowball' range!

An unusual technical challenge was recently put to the Gobra engineers by Whisky Liqueur maker Drambuie, sponsors of the World Ice Golf Championship, an event which takes place in April close to the North Pole! The question. How to provide both comfort (for free swinging of the golf club) and warmth (for protection against temperatures which can reach 50 below freezing) in a hostile yet sportingly competitive environment?

In a matter of weeks, Gobra's R&D department had the answer - the 'Snowball' underpants, an adaptation of the highly successful Gobra golfing underpants, using specially reinforced thermal insulation, yet preserving the virtues of perfect balance and comfort which top golfers have come to expect from Gobra.

All competitors in the Ice Golf travelling to Svalbard will be provided with the new underpants by the sponsors - just another way Gobra is helping golfers keep their balls in play.
