Macau Golf & Country Club Tournament - 1st July, 2003
Report by FD and President Sunil Tuli
The Duffers Golf Club’s first ever tournament was held in the Macau Golf and Country Club, on 1st July 2003.

Eight Duffers turned up, hung over, at the first tee, at the crack of dawn, at 10 a.m. No pictures of the players in their golf attire were allowed, as this would cause severe damage to the reputation of the DGC.

For the next 5 hours, what happened on the course should not be repeated, but some of the highlights need to be mentioned.

Needless to say, John Kammerman won the tournament, with a total of 37 stableford points. This happened only because the other players got a maximum handicap of 24, whereas the range should have been from 24 to 63, based on the actual scores played, or gross scores of 96 to 135.

Antares Cheng, with a 36, got the “ I’ll win next time “ trophy.

Eddie Forrest got 27 points. A true duffer, he displayed his skill on all par 3 holes, landing right next to the pin on his tee off, and then finishing the hole with a 5 stroke. He got the “ Blind Putter “ Award.

Jonathan Holland with 26 stableford points, spent most of the morning trying to correct his hook, and walked off with the " Unhappy Hooker” award.

Sunil Tuli, the biggest and the best duffer of them all, somehow managed 24 points. Such was his shock, he refused to give a speech.

Raymond De Malherbe with 16 points, at times looked like he was playing baseball, at times hockey, but mostly did not look like he was playing anything. He was awarded the “ I’m really good at tennis” prize.

Simon Lownang, a new and promising duffer, pretended he was getting sunstroke, only so he could drink beer in the middle of the game. He got 15, and “ The lost balls” prize.

Mike Bowden scraped 14 points. On the 18th tee, his first shot trickled into a drain. He teed up again, took a mighty swing, and slammed hard into the ball. His ball somehow ended up about twenty feet behind him. The “Get a grip on your game, and your club” award goes to Mike, who at this rate will soon be entering the hall of fame, but not at the Duffers Golf Club.
