LMA President visits global HQ!
|
Early April saw the visit to the Duffers Golf Club worldwide headquarters in London's Covent Garden of the President of the LOFT Masters Auckland Chapter, FD Carol Gordon, who was making a whirlwind tour of England, Scotland and France promoting Anglo-Kiwi friendship in her unofficial capacity as the roving ambassador for New Zealand's excellent chardonnays.

After a tour of the offices and the traditional ceremonial protocols, FD Carol joined Club Secretary FD Clive for a working lunch, during which they worked their way through champagne, chardonnay, claret, coffee and cognac. They later posed for the official photo shoot, when FD Carol pointed out New Zealand on the map (just off the south-eastern coast of Australia, for those who are unfamiliar) and explained that the traditional name for New Zealand - Aotearoa - means "Land of the Long White Cloud". As our photo above shows, the wall map in the Secetary's office is accurate in every detail.
As the first Lady President of a D.G.C. Chapter, FD Carol was at pains to point out that her entire LOFT Masters Executive Committee is feminine, as befits a country where the Prime Minister, the Governor General, the Attorney General and the Chief Executive of one of the largest companies in the country, Telecom, are all women! And we thought that New Zealand was just full of hard-drinking, sheep-loving, rugby-playing men, like Anyone For Tee's Kiwi co-publisher, Martin Moodie! How wrong can you be? After her visit, FD & President Carol returned down-under to prepare for the inaugural LOFT Masters tournament. You can read her report on this event, complete with photographs on and off the course, by clicking here. |
